Dialysis Treatments
Peritoneal Dialysis
A home-based kidney treatment that fits your life — performed at your own pace, in your own space, without needles or clinic visits.
How It Works
Your abdomen has a thin inner lining called the peritoneum. In peritoneal dialysis, a small soft tube called a catheter is placed through the abdominal wall. A sterile cleansing solution flows through the catheter into the abdominal space, where it draws waste and extra fluid out of the surrounding blood vessels. After a set dwell time, the used solution drains out and fresh solution goes in.
This cycle — fill, dwell, drain — is called an exchange. Depending on the type of PD you choose, exchanges happen during the day or automatically overnight while you sleep.
Two Ways to Do PD
Manual PD
CAPD — Continuous Ambulatory
You perform three to five exchanges yourself throughout the day. Each one takes about 20 to 30 minutes. No machine is involved — just a bag of solution and gravity. Between exchanges you are completely free to move around.
- No machine required
- Daytime exchanges at your pace
- Full mobility between sessions
- Good for active daily schedules
Automated PD
APD — Cycler Machine
A small bedside machine called a cycler handles all exchanges while you sleep — typically over eight to ten hours. You connect before bed, disconnect in the morning, and your days are entirely your own.
- Treatment happens while you sleep
- Completely free during the day
- Machine manages every exchange
- Ideal for working patients and families
Why Patients Choose PD
No Clinic Required
Treatment happens entirely at home. You set the schedule — morning, evening, or overnight.
No Needles
The catheter is placed once and stays in place. There are no needle sticks during treatment.
Steadier Results
Daily treatment keeps waste levels more consistent than three-times-a-week clinic visits, which can cause fluid and fatigue swings.
Travel-Friendly
Supplies ship directly to wherever you are. Patients travel for work, vacations, and family visits without interrupting care.
What to Expect When Starting PD
Catheter Placement
A soft catheter is placed through a small opening in the abdomen during a brief outpatient procedure. It typically heals over two to four weeks before treatment begins.
Hands-On Training
Our clinical team walks you through every step — how to prepare supplies, perform exchanges, and keep the catheter site clean. Training continues until you feel fully confident.
Home Delivery
All dialysis supplies are delivered directly to your home on a regular schedule. No trips to a pharmacy or supply center.
Ongoing Care
Monthly lab work, regular check-ins with your nephrologist, and around-the-clock clinical support keep your treatment on track.
